NordVPN is a giant in the VPN industry. While (according to the majority of business VPN reviews) it’s not one of the most popular choices when it comes to a VPN for business, I would tend to argue otherwise. Let me explain.

Many VPN reviewers online state that Nord lacks a lot of features that would make it a viable VPN to use in a business environment. I do agree that, in nature, Nord is better-suited to be used by individuals instead of companies, but that is only one side of a coin.

I’d argue that the top-tier data protection that Nord provides is far more important than dealing with a VPN that has a few cool business-based features, but keeps on leaking information all over the place. Because of this, I’ve decided to include NordVPN in this business VPN review.

So then, security. Nord, same as ExpressVPN, offers users the “ultimate combination” - AES 256 and the OpenVPN protocol. Additionally, you could use two more protocols - IPSec and IKEv2.

Since data protection and security is so important for companies worldwide, you’ll probably be happy to hear that NordVPN is based out in Panama. Why is this important? Well, Panama falls outside of any of the intelligence-sharing alliances.

This means that the governments of the largest countries in the world won’t be able to access your information, even if they wanted to. However, this is somewhat of a “secondary assurance” - Nord does not keep any logs on your business, and so wouldn’t have anything to show to the government, in the first place.

Nord hasn’t got any history with sensitive information leaks, hasn't gotten into any troubles or any notable controversies (there was one, but they proved that they were innocent without reasonable doubt).

If you’re at least somewhat familiar with the VPN industry, ExpressVPN is probably a name that you’ll know pretty well. It’s one of the top service providers of the industry, both when it comes to individuals and businesses alike.

First of all, ExpressVPN is hella safe. It utilizes the industry standard AES 256-bit data encryption together with the OpenVPN protocol. This combination ensures that not only is your information protected and encrypted by the best encryption tools in the world, but that your connections are safe, too (whether it be Peer-to-Peer file sharing connections, or else).

ExpressVPN also exercises a strict no logging policy. This provider is one of the best solutions for small business because of this - Express has no prior history of keeping any logs on its users.

That being said, it is important to note that not all “logging” is unacceptable - the majority of VPN providers out there (majority - not all!) tend to keep some certain, non-sensitive information about their users.

This would include billing and payment information, emails, dates of when the users log on to the VPN (not the times of day, though), and so on.

Another great thing about ExpressVPN is that it’s a DNS, IP and WebRTC leak-free. This is also a very important thing to note when it comes to business VPNs - whenever a VPN leaks your DNS or IP, your connection becomes exposed to the eyes of your internet service provider.

Given that you’re using a VPN in the first place, that’s probably not something that you would want happening.

Express also provides users with some amazing connection speeds (you’ll barely notice that you’re even using a VPN!) and offers more than 3000 servers to choose from!

While this might be a bit too much for individual users, it’s a great feature as far as business VPNs go - with so many servers, you’ll be able to everything and anything that your company might require.

The only real problem as far as ExpressVPN goes in the business department is that it only allows a maximum of 3 connections at a time.

That said, while this might definitely be an issue for huge corporations, it still doesn’t take away from Express being a great contender for the spot of the best VPN for small business - smaller companies most probably won’t require a lot of simultaneous connections.

Private Internet Access is often referenced as one of the most reliable VPNs in the industry. Surfshark is somewhat in the same boat with NordVPN in the sense that it isn’t really mentioned all that often when it comes to choosing the best VPN for small business. Again, I would argue that this shouldn’t be the case - let me elaborate on the why.
